Thailand Day 1 @ Chiang Mai - 17.09.2009

transiting at the Suvarnabhumi (wad a long name) Bangkok Airport... heading to Chiang Mai...

Mich with her chiCky bag once again ... after the Batam trip!

Our purpose of this trip is also to use the 2 Night complimentary stay @ dusitD2 Chiang Mai Studio Suite which i've won in the 88DB MySweetValentine contest during March. Click HERE to know more on how i won this and what I had submitted! ;)

Here... we arrived at dusitD2 Chiang Mai

shortly after... we were escorted under a private check-in at level 7 by a friendly hotel staff who speaks fluent english and introduced us to the hotel facilities and restaurant along the way...

its a very nice n clean homely lounge... with coffee and pastries served while the hotel staffs settle our check-in to e hotel.
They were very friendly and polite!

heavenly...

later the hotel staff handed this slip of paper in an envelope to us politely... stating what were the services catered to us... e.g. 45 mins of complimentary internet usage daily & 5 complimentary local telephone calls from our room * the last point reads 20% laundry discount

so comfy...

and here...

we entered our room at level 6
ours is a Studio Suite ... so it looks bigger!

from anti-clockwise ...

turning left to our bedroom...

was i asked to act cute ?

behind the blinds... simplying just cam-whoring lah...!

a small walk-in wardrobe with bathrobes and bathroom slippers (which we changed into already la...)

our luggages :)

leading to the toilet.
hence the whole hotel room is like a round-a-bout ... one linked to the other...

welcome to our suite ...
64 sqm which is equivalent to a 3-room flat in Singapore
from what we know ours was the second best room in the hotel
its actually called Studio King (as our bedsize is king)
1 night rate - THB 10500
which is equivalent to about SGD$470 per night,
and we stayed 2 nights

Theres one more room which is even better than ours
its also the one and only...
called the D'Suite
which cost THB 22000
= SGD$990 per night

You may check out the rates HERE.

See? our bed was opened up... somebody came in to our room to open the bed for us and even provided a pair of fortune cookies.. haha
( i din even know the bed need to be opened up, the hotel staff knock on our door and asked to open the bed for us, sth interesting too...)

dun disturb me la... am trying to watch a TV that is not On! haha...

a unique way to display level 6 and also house a fire extinguisher underneath...
very innovative! :)

after resting fora while at the hotel...
we went to this Old Chiang Mai Cultural Centre for our dinner.
it was a place which my dad had brought me to when i was still a kid, so i find it quite familiar when i visited there...

glutinous or sticky rice to dip in the orange sauce provided below ...

there was on-stage thai performance while havin our dinner...

after the dinner we went to another area to catch some other traditional performances...

showing their daily lifestyle and routines... and what they did for a living...

back to the hotel...
we spotted this apple green Volkswagen Beetle parked outside the hotel...

and took a snap of it... it seems like the mOst expensive car parked outside the hotel... :)

after that we went to shop at the night market just outside our hotel.
spotted these interesting T-shirts and took a few snap of it too... haha...

i quite like this Mcshit but they dun have this colour i wanted already! :(

hair clips ... made from the old sweets n biscuits we used to eat last time.. like the polos, jelly and theres even Heineken bottle caps. haha... interesting!

people bargaining on the streets...

these are quite cute...

salt and pepper hugging each other... haha..

this is usually what you would see in Thailand...
these are actually soap made into flowers.

and took a picture of the person sculpting the soap...

pretty nice :)

After that when we were on our way back to our hotel, theres a sudden downpour...
there wasn't a proper shelter plus we dont want to waste our time there waiting for the rain to stop, hence we had no choice but to rush across the streets to our hotel... along the way we got a bit lost... dunnoe where our hotel is... but fortunately we found it in the end.
Before we actually arrived at the hotel.. the hotel security guard who spotted us came out and sheltered us with a big umbrella... as big as those u see at the poolside.
afterall ... we were both totally drenched!
in the end we used the hotel laundry service which we were entitled to a 20% off. :)

hope u enjoy this post!
Next will be Day 2 in Chiang Mai where we went for the Elephant rides!
Stay tuned!
